Deepak Chahar: Deepak Chahar had a season filled with injuries as a result of which he has been unable to play many matches. He even missed the T20 World Cup and made his return during the Bangladesh series. However, he suffered a hamstring during the 2nd ODI and did not feature in the 3rd ODI match. The cricketer is currently recovering from the injury and if fit he is likely to be drafted to the T20I set-up or maybe the ODI series.

Insidesport

Sanju Samson: Sanju Samson has been unlucky not to cement his place in Team India.  Samson had looked promising with the limited opportunity presented to him. He was not picked for the T20 World Cup nor he toured with team India to Bangladesh tour. Currently, he is playing the Ranji Trophy for his state team Kerala and scored 3 fifties. With Rishabh Pant not having a great time in the T20 format, it is likely that he could be drafted for the T20I series.

Deepak Hooda: The all-rounder was part of the T20 World Cup followed by the New Zealand tour.  However, he was rested for the Bangladesh series. With BCCI likely to rest seniors and draft young faces into the T20I setup, Hooda is likely to make a comeback against Sri Lanka. The Rajasthan star is one of the few Indian batters who can chip in with the ball.

Insidesport

Yuzvendra Chahal:   The leg spinner was a part of the T20 World Cup team but did not feature in any single game.  He was dropped for the Bangladesh series which led to selectors being immensely criticized. Come 2023 the leg spinner not only hopes to play the ODI World Cup but also cement his place in the T20I team starting with SriLanka series. He would be hoping to get picked by selectors.

Insidesport

Shubman Gill: With KL Rahul’s future hanging in the balance, Shubman Gill could make his T20I debut. Gill was named in the squad against New Zealand but did not feature in any games. With Rohit is also ruled out, the Gujarat Titans star will aim to seal his spot in the side alongside Ishan Kishan.
