The BCCI has delivered the NEW YEAR gift to Hardik Pandya on Tuesday. Hardik is officially announced as India’s NEW T20 Captain. The sacked selection committee led by Chetan Sharma announced the squad for SriLanka series. Hardik takes the baton from Rohit Sharma. However, a decision on the permanent move will only be made when new selectors come in. He is likely to remain India’s captain till 2024 T20 World CUP. Hardik also gets ODI vice-captaincy in KL Rahul’s place.

KL Rahul has got BCCI and the selectors’ immunity for a long time and was properly backed after his numerous injuries. But, consistent poor performances from Rahul have had his downfall. Just like how his Vice-captaincy immunity has been snubbed off, another poor stint of performances can lead to him getting ousted from the team.
With Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan performing well and knocking on the door to fix their spot on the team, things are turning sour for KL Rahul. Rahul who will miss the T20I series owing to his wedding will look to perform well in the ODI series. In the meantime, Hardik Pandya who set to be appointed as the new T20I skipper in the coming days has been elevated to the post of vice-captain of the ODI squad.
