Deepak Chahar who is nursing a back injury will return for the Bangladesh tour. However, there is no sign of Jasprit Bumrah yet. He is likely to return in December for Australia series at home. The other notable omission is Dinesh Karthik. India’s designated finisher has been dropped from the T20 squad for NewZealand. Shubman Gill has also got a call-up in T20Is.
“We hurried Jasprit Bumrah before the T20 World Cup and you saw what happened. So we want to be patient now. KL Rahul is an important Test player for us, so we’ve rested him in the Limited Overs series against New Zealand,” Chetan Sharma said.
“I say it every time that we have to manage the players and when we do that, the media ends up writing about how different players are playing in the lineup with different captains. We have to manage the workload. We hurried up Jasprit Bumrah a bit, we tried as the World Cup was coming and see what happened. We are without Jasprit Bumrah for this World Cup,” the chief selector said of Bumrah.
