India Squad for T20 World Cup: Dearth of pacers in India Cricket Team, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed likely to pair with Jasprit Bumrah

The Indian Cricket Team is placed in a precarious situation. The Men in Blue faces a dearth of pacers heading into the ICC T20 World Cup. There is no Mohammed Shami, and India will be only reliant on ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. On the other hand, Siraj’s poor form is a big concern for India. Can the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed or Mukesh Kumar make it to USA?

T20 World Cup

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, India’s pace attack is in tatters. The absence of Mohammed Shami will be a big blow to Rohit Sharma and Co. Coupled with the poor form of other pacers, India are in dire straits.

Poor form of Mohammed Siraj

India’s yet another concern is the poor form of ace pacer Mohammed Siraj. The shortest format of the game has always been the Achille’s heel for Siraj. His lacklustre form in IPL 2024 is no exception. Siraj has gone on concede 269 runs in just 7 games with a high economy of 10.34.

Who can come into the squad? Arshdeep Singh is a potential candidate. The Punjab Kings pacer has already bagged 10 wickets in 8 games. The only disadvantage for Arshdeep is the runs conceded – 257 runs.

Any chance for new-comers?

Team India can bank on the likes of Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahemed. The pacer duo from Delhi Capitals have been magnificent this season. Mukesh has bagged 10 wickets from 6 games while Khaleel on the other hand has scalped equal wickets from 9 games.
