In the first selection meeting since chairman Chetan Sharma stepped down, there have been no major changes. The only talking point is dropping KL Rahul from vice-captaincy.

KL Rahul has endured a lacklustre form, averaging 15.66 in the last 12 months. With yet another failure in Delhi Test, BCCI has snatched away his vice-captaincy immunity. However, selectors have not named any vice-captain for the remaining two Tests. It is expected that Cheteshwar Pujara will be the VC in Rohit’s absence on the field.

BCCI Selection Meeting LIVE: Major talking points –

  • Selectors have kept the Test squad intact for the remaining two Tests.
  • While KL Rahul has found a place, selectors have removed him from vice-captaincy.
  • India lead 2-0 in the Test series and the selectors have retained the winning squad.
  • Shubman Gill has been in terrific form but has not found a place to accommodate KL Rahul.
  • It is likely that KL Rahul will be benched for Shubman in the 3rd Test in Indore.
  • However, there is no place for Sarfaraz Khan in Tests.
  • As for the ODI team, the only big change is Jaydev Unadkat’s call-up to ODIs after 10 years.
  • However, Arshdeep Singh has been dropped and there is no place for Sanju Samson either.
  • The other news is that Hardik Pandya will lead in the 1st ODI with Rohit Sharma taking a break following the Test series.
  • Furthermore, Jasprit Bumrah has missed out as the BCCI does not want to risk any rushed return.
