India player confirms Ranji Trophy participation for next round, to train with team on Wednesday

Yashasvi Jaiswal was by far the best India batter at the recently concluded series Down Under, where he scored 391 runs in 5 Tests.

Amid the tussle between the BCCI and top players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, over their participation in the Ranji Trophy, India opener Yashavi Jaiswal has confirmed his availability for the next round. As per a report in the Indian Express, the 23-year-old has informed the MCA and coach Omkar Salvi about the same.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Available for Next Ranji Trophy Round

Meanwhile, Mumbai is slated to play their next match vs J&K in Mumbai from Jan 23. It is important to note that Yashasvi Jasiwal had finished the recent IND vs AUS series as the highest run-getter for the Indian team. He had scored 391 runs at an average of 43, slamming a ton at Perth.

“He has informed Mumbai coach Omkar Salvi that he is available for the next round of the Ranji Trophy. The selection committee will pick the Mumbai team in the coming days,” a MCA official said. There were also reports suggesting that Rohit could also feature in the next Ranji Trophy match. In fact, he trained with the Mumbai team on Tuesday.

Coming back to Yashasvi Jaiswal, he was left out of the IND vs ENG T20I series, and instead Abhishek Sharma was preferred over him. Now, the southpaw is slated to join Mumbai’s team practice at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

Sarfaraz Khan Suffers Rib Fracture

Mumbai suffered a blow as their top batter, Sarfaraz Khan reportedly picked up an injury. He has informed the MCA that he picked up a rib fracture and won’t be available for selection in the next Ranji Trophy match. “He has injured one of his ribs and he has informed us that he won’t be playing the next Ranji Trophy game. As he is contracted with the BCCI, the National Cricket Academy will do his medical assessment and inform us,” the MCA official added.
