The team management opted to give players two days off to recover from jet lag, and the entire squad was seen making the most of their downtime.

Prior to their normal practice sessions, Team India’s players, including Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal were spotted having fun in Barbados. As they landed down in the Caribbean for their red-and-white-ball series against the West Indies, India’s next-gen were in full groove.

The Indian players were seen playing beach volleyball while Ishan Kishan briefs the audience in a 106-second clip that BCCI posted on Twitter. “𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻! Ishan Kishan takes over the camera to shoot #TeamIndia’s beach volleyball session in Barbados. How did Ishan – the cameraman – do behind the lens,” was the caption for the video.

The West Indies trip will start on July 12. India will play two Test matches to start their campaign in the third cycle of the WTC before beginning a three-match ODI series to begin the last round of domestic ODI World Cup 2023 preparation. A five-match T20I series at the end of the tour could provide a sneak preview of India’s preparations for the T20 World Cup in 2024.

As India prepares for the upcoming two-year cycle of the third WTC campaign, they have made some major changes to the team. Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s third-ranked batter, was not included in the squad, and the selection committee has not yet said why the seasoned batter has been dismissed in favour of more youthful alternatives.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad were again chosen by the selectors, but they once again passed over Sarfaraz Khan despite his heroics in the Ranji Trophy.
