India New Test Captain – Gambhir’s Choice Rohit Sharma: Indian cricket is still searching for answer to question – who will replace Virat Kohli as India’s next test captain? Gautam Gambhir meanwhile has voted for his preference. According to Gambhir, no one else but Rohit Sharma should lead India across all formats.

In his column for the Times of India, Gambhir wrote, “In my book Rohit Sharma should lead India across all formats with Rahul as his deputy. One captain across formats will ensure consistency in style and approach of the Indian team especially considering that we have another T20 World Cup later this year.”

Big Indian Cricket Debate – India’s NEW Test Captain? Indian cricket is going through massive transition. The cricket fraternity, former cricketers, cricket pundits and fans alike are debating on just one thing – who should be appointed India’s Next Test Captain? Everyday new contenders are thrown in the ring making the situation more confusing & intriguing according to few BCCI officials.

  • Former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar wants young Rishabh Pant as captain.
  • Dilip Vengsarkar’s choice is Rohit Sharma or Ravichandran Ashwin.
  • Former Secretary of the board Sanjay Jagdale feels KL Rahul should be the next captain.
  • Yuvraj Singh has voted in favor of Rishabh Pant
  • For Harbhajan Singh Rohit is the best candidate
  • If these names are not enough, their are few who are throwing name of Jasprit Bumrah as perfect choice to be the India’s next captain.

“We can’t understand this. Everyone is throwing different names for captaincy. They don’t understand one basic thing. Rohit Sharma was appointed vice-captain for the test team for a reason. If the selectors don’t see a leader in him, why they would have appointed him in place of Ajinkya Rahane”, said miffed BCCI official.

Gambhir wrote in the column that Virat served Indian cricket well but he has resigned now & everyone should move on.

“Between the last Test and ODI series, the news space has been hogged by Virat resigning from Test captaincy. I think it is an individual’s call and that is how it should be treated. I think Virat left the Indian Test team is good health but I can’t say the same about white-ball cricket. Our bowling resources in Test matches are a neighbour’s envy and owner’s pride. They have showed time and again that they are the engine room for a team’s performance. In limited overs cricket, I’d have liked to see a more settled middle-order, which Virat could not create,” Gambhir added.

Big Indian Cricket Debate: BCCI official says, ‘Former Cricketers & experts making situation confusing, Rohit Sharma was appointed vice-captain for a reason’

India’s NEW Test Captain? Rohit was appointed as the vice-captain of India’s Test side before the tour of South Africa, before a hamstring injury ruled him out.

Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar and India’s 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh are batting for star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who slammed a hundred in the final Test, to take over as the new Test captain.

“If you ask me, I am still saying, I would look at Rishabh Pant as next India captain.

“Yes, I am saying that. Tiger Pataudi was captain at the age of 21 under adverse circumstances when Nari Contractor was injured. Look what he did after that. He took to captaincy like duck to water. I think what we have seen with Rishabh Pant as the captain of Delhi Capitals in the IPL, I do believe he has the capability of taking Indian cricket forward and making it a very exciting team to watch,” he was quoted in a recent interview by India Today.
