Hardik named new T20I Captain – On December 27, 2022, the star all-rounder was named captain of the T20 team for the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka, which would begin on January 3. The present management intends to use the 27-year-old Baroda player as the long-term white ball captain once Rohit Sharma, 35, decides to end his illustrious international career. He has also been selected the vice-captain of the ODI side.
Even though Rohit, who is recovering from a thumb injury, was named captain of the ODI series that would come after the T20Is, it is reasonable that the shortest format will now predominantly consist of IPL players and newcomers.
