India can top WTC Standings in New Year 2024 despite loss in IND vs SA 1st Test - Check how

The India Cricket Team is currently placed on the 6th spot of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. But Rohit Sharma and Co can start New Year 2024 on a bright note and can go on to top the standings. This however will depend on India’s performance in the IND vs SA 2nd Test. Also Pakistan’s performance in the AUS vs PAK 3rd Test will be crucial in the WTC Standings.

Pakistan are placed 5th in the WTC standings. The Men in Green have lost the Test series and are 2-0 down. They will be eager to etch out a win in the upcoming AUS vs PAK Sydney Test. But a draw will work work wonders for the India Cricket Team.

The dynamics are quite simple. India will have to win the IND vs SA 2nd Test and hope that the AUS vs PAK 3rd Test result goes in their favour. Currently South Africa tops the charts after inflicting a crushing defeat in the Centurion Test by an innings and 32 runs.

How can India top WTC Standings?

India will have to win IND vs SA 2nd Test at all costs. It will be a difficult task for India especially since India has never won a Test match previously at Cape Town. But to go on the top, India will have to overcome all odds and win against the Proteas.

Furthermore, India will have to hope that the AUS vs PAK Sydney Test results in a draw, only then India will top the WTC Standings with 26 points (India currently has 14 points).
