1. T20 World Cup

After a disastrous campaign in the T20 World Cup in the UAE which marked the end of Virat Kohli’s reign, India will now hope to seal those wounds in the tournament’s next edition. The T20 World Cup 2022 will be played in Australia, and Rohit Sharma will face the task of converting India’s wealth of experience and talent into consistent runs and knockout game success in ICC tournaments. India last lifted an ICC title in 2013 and the Men in Blue will hope to end that drought Down Under.

2. Maiden series win in South Africa (India lead 1-0)

India have never won a series in South Africa but could very well be on the cusp of history after they breached the fortress Centurion earlier this week. A year after their famous Boxing Day Test win at the MCG, Virat Kohli and Co. defeated the South Africans in style to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. Kohli has already become the first captain to lead India to two test wins in the Rainbow nation and will hope to put an end to the agony suffered on previous tours.

3. Asia Cup 2022

India are the most successful team in Asia Cup history having won seven titles including the last two, with the one in 2018 coming under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. The Hit-Man will lead the side this time as a full-time captain and will hope to continue India’s juggernaut with the tournament serving a major practice ground for the 50-over World Cup in 2023. The tournament will also pit rivals India and Pakistan against each other, and the Men in Blue will aim to seal revenge for their T20 World Cup loss against Babar Azam and Co.

4. Series win in England (India lead 2-1)

India last won a series in England in 2007 and have the chance to end their barren run in when they will face off in the final fifth Test later this year. The game, which was to be played at Manchester was postponed due to the threat of COVID-19 but will be played out in June with Virat Kohli and Co. leading 2-1. Kohli could become one of the few captains to lead his team to series wins in England, Australia and South Africa.

5. Border-Gavaskar Trophy

India and Australia have developed a healthy rivalry over the course of the last few decades and currently, it is Virat Kohli’s men who hold the Aussies to the sword. India have won the last three Border-Gavaskar series, including two in Australia. Now, the Indians will welcome Pat Cummins and Co home, where India have not lost a series since 2012. Australia meanwhile have the odds stacked against them, with their last series win on Indian soil coming way back in 2004.
