Australia have named a 17-man ‘A’ squad for their upcoming series against India A. The side will be led by Nathan McSweeney and features several players who’ve got a baggy green. Todd Murphy is the only Test regular, while Cameron Bancroft, Marcus Harris, Scott Boland and Michael Neser wish to return for the Australian side.
Australia calls Konstas
Sam Konstas has been called up after he scored twin hundreds in the first match of the Sheffield Shield. The 19-year-old has caught the selector’s eyes, and he could even partner Usman Khawaja in the India vs Australia Test series if Steve Smith decides to move down the order and neither Bancroft nor Harris are in the fry to return to the side.
India A yet to name squad
India haven’t announced their team, but Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to lead the side. In this alone, the opener has been named the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, Maharashtra, Rest of India and the Duleep Trophy. Team India won’t be playing any practice matches before the Australia tour starts on November 22. However, they’ll face the Prime Minister’s XI from November 29-December 1, in between the 1st and 2nd Test. Therefore, performing well in the 2-match A tour could help in making the main squad.
