India are all set to play two 4-day games against Bangladesh next month and the BCCI have announced a strong squad for the same. Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named captain, with several Ranji Trophy stars rewarded with a place in the side. U19 World Cup captain Yash Dhull received his first call-up to the side, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Verma and Sarfaraz Khan keeping their place from the NZ-A series.

Kerala’s Rohan Kunnummal is also named on the side with Prithvi Shaw a notable absentee. The Mumbai opener has lit up the domestic circuit over the last two seasons but continues to be ignored by the selectors. Fortunately for the Delhi Capitals star, this will be Chetan Sharma and Co’s final announcement, and fortunes could yet change for the swashbuckling opener.

Veteran Test specialists Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav are likely to be part of the India A side for the tour of Bangladesh. The duo alongside backup keeper KS Bharat will join the India A side for the second match.

The idea behind the inclusion of Pujara, Umesh and Bharat is to provide them with game time, with the trio considered as red ball specialists. The others in the squad have been part of India set up during the ODI and T20I series in recent months.
