IND W vs SL W Final Highlights: India women’s cricket team has defeated Sri Lanka to create history as they win Asian Games gold medal. The match took place at the ZJUT Cricket Field in China. The Women in Blue led-by Harmanpreet Kaur defeated Lankans by 19 runs in the title clash.
India Women, who chose to bat first, lost Shafali Verma early in their innings, but with to the partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah, they were able to record a respectable total despite losing a ton of wickets in the latter parts of their innings. Mandhana and Jemimah both retired in their 40s; else, India might have posted a higher total than they did.
With the ball, Titas Sadhu stole the show by taking three wickets in her opening stint and deflating the Sri Lankan team’s hopes. Athapaththu was also killed by her spell, which caused the Sri Lankans great harm. The spinners then contributed by pressuring Sri Lankan hitters and making them take chances.
Sri Lanka XI: Chamari Athapaththu (c), Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Vishmi Gunaratne, Nilakshi de Silva, Hasini Perera, Udeshika Prabodhani, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Inoka Ranaweera, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Kavisha Dilhari, Sugandika Kumari
India XI: Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Devika Vaidya, Amanjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar, Titas Sadhu, Rajeshwari Gayakwad
In the semi-final, India Women delivered a emphatic performance as they bundled out Bangladesh for 51 runs and chased down the target in just eight overs while losing two wickets.
Sri Lanka Women, on the other hand, booked their final berth after defeating Pakistan women by six wickets. Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will be favourites to secure a gold on Monday as they hold a superior 10-1 record against the Sri Lanka Women’s team.
Sri Lanka is the first team to have advanced to both their quarterfinal and semifinal while completing both games. Both times, they bowled first, limiting the opponent to a low total, and then expertly chasing. Although it could be more difficult to carry it out against a highly skilled Indian team, they might have a similar brief today.
