IND W vs ENG W 3rd T20: Harmanpreet Kaur and Co completed a dominating win in the third IND W vs ENG W T20 encounter played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Chasing a small total of 127 runs, Smirti Mandhana (48 runs) and Jemimah Rodrigues (29 runs) played crucial roles with the bat as the Women in Blue avoided a whitewash at the hands of England Women on Sunday (November 10).

IND W were invited to bowl first

Earlier in the match, England skipper Heather Knight won the toss and opted to bat first. They had a shaky start as Maia Bouchier was cleaned up Renuka Singh Thakur on a duck in the very first over. Renuka’s dream run with the new ball continued as she dismissed good-looking Sophia Dunkley on 11 in her second over. Saika Ishaque was brought into the attack and she dismissed Alice Capsey on seven on her very first ball as England Women reeled at 32/3 at the end of the powerplay.

Knight was joined by Amy Jones and both led the recovery work. Both used their experience and kept ticking the scorecard in the middle overs. The pair stitched a 41-run stand for the fourth wicket before Jones holed out in the deep. Ishaque cleaned up Danielle Gibson on a golden duck on the next ball.

Insidesport

Shreyanka Patil got into the wickets column as she dismissed debutant Bess Heath on one in the 13th over. She trapped Freya Kemp on the very next ball as the English all-rounder fell on golden ducks in two consecutive games. Patil grabbed another as she cleaned up Sophie Ecclestone on two. The India Women failed to wrap up the tail as Heather Knight stood tall against the Indian bowlers. She played a fantastic knock of 52 off 42 balls before departing in the last over.
