IND W vs AUS W: Who is Mannat Kashyap? Ace bowler gets ODI call-up for Australia series

Know more about ace bowler Mannat Kashyap who earned her maiden call up for the ODI series against Australia

Shreyanka Patil, Mannat Kashyap, Saika Ishaque, and Titas Sadhu have been newly named in the Indian women’s ODI squad for the upcoming limited-overs series against Australia. The Indian women’s team is set to engage in three ODIs and as many T20Is against the visiting Australian team, commencing from December 28 with the first ODI scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Mannat Kashyap to debut at IND W vs AUS W ODIs, T20Is

Among the newcomers, left-arm spinner, Mannat Kashyap, hailing from Patiala, is known for her craftiness on the field. Although previously named in the T20I series against England, Kashyap did not get an opportunity to play.

Considered an old-school left-arm spinner by scouts, Kashyap possesses a skilful ability to impart significant turn to the ball. Her game is characterized by subtle deception, skillfully employing the crease and angles. Riding on a wave of confidence, Kashyap successfully secured her spot in India’s T20I squad for the England series.

Kashyap had earlier contributed to India’s triumph in the women’s Under-19 World Cup in February, making a notable impact with a four-wicket haul against Scotland in her debut outing. Throughout the tournament, she accumulated nine wickets in six games, the second-highest for India after Parshavi Chopra. Later in the year, she played a crucial role in the ACC Emerging final, taking 3 for 20 in India’s defence of 127.
