The IND W vs AUS W one-off Test produced a number of talking points. One of them is debutant Richa Ghosh, who scored a gritty half-century on her Test debut. The 20-year-old shared her game plan after the match, saying she was taking it ball-by-ball.
Richa Ghosh came to the crease on Day 2 at a time when India desperately needed a partnership. However, the start wasn’t worth remembering for Richa. A confusion between her and Smriti Mandhana in the middle of the pitch resulted in the latter being run out.
The run out did not seem to have much of an impact on Richa. She stitched together a crucial partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues to put India at the driving seat again. Richa’s innings was studded with seven fours as she carefully treaded her way, choosing balls to hit.
Right after Richa completed her half-century, she looked to put on some quick runs on the board to help India achieve a sizable lead. However, that approach did not take Richa too far as she was caught at deep square leg trying to pull a short ball from Kim Garth. Richa finished her innings with 52 runs from 104 balls, but not before having a telling influence on the game.
Felt really good: Richa Ghosh
After the match, Richa shared her feelings on her debut half-century and divulged her plans to tackle the Aussie bowling line-up.
“Felt really good and the family was here, so it is a really special moment for me. The plan was to play normal cricket and not think about the other things. Whatever I tried in practice, I just needed to execute it in the middle. The plan was to take it session by session and if the ball was there to be hit, we will take it on, and respect the good ones. That was the plan,” Richa said after the match.
