IND W vs AUS W 2nd ODI: ‘So Close’ Richa Ghosh missed stunning Maiden ODI ton by 4 runs

So Close yet so Far - Richa Ghosh misses Maiden ODI ton by 4 runs in IND W vs AUS W 2nd ODI

The prangs of the first match defeat still hurts. Taking the game to the opposition, India’s destructive batter Richa Ghosh led India’s charge. The Indian Eves needed 259 runs to win and it was the young Richa Ghosh almost made it to the end. Richa Ghosh missed her maiden ODI ton by just 4 runs after being dismissed by Annabel Sutherland.

This is now Richa Ghosh’s highest ODI score. After making her India Women’s Cricket Team debut in 2021, Ghosh slammed 65 against New Zealand in 2022 which was her highest score.

Predominantly starting a lower order batter and a designated finisher, Richa Ghosh thrived under pressure. But with time she was promoted up the order and she let hell loose. Batting at number 3, Richa Ghosh scripted a stunning innings where she managed to score 96 from 117 balls with 13 fours in the IND W vs AUS W 2nd ODI.

Richa Ghosh had to make her way into the crease quite early after Yastika Bhatia was dismissed. She then went on to stitch a decent partnership with Smrit Mandhana. But her best partnership came with Jemimah Rodrigues. While her partners went on to depart at regular intervals, Ghosh kept on going.

The young destructive batter showcased her brilliance by punishing the poor balls and scoring runs at a brisk pace to help India maintain the asking rate. But her end came unfortunately. A devasted Ghosh had to walk back on 96 after she was dismissed by Annabel Sutherland.
