IND vs ZIM LIVE: With semi-final spot on the line, India face Zimbabwe at MCG, 3 Reasons why Rohit Sharma & Co cannot take Sikandar Raza and Co lightly, Check OUT
India have their fate in their hands when they face Zimbabwe on Sunday. A win for Rohit Sharma’s side should seal their place in the semi-finals, however, a defeat could make things tricky. The Men in Blue are favourites for the clash, but that counts for little on Sunday with a spirited Zimbabwe having previously shown why they have the potential to be giant killers.

Reason 1: Zimbabwe’s win over Pakistan – Zimbabwe have been in Australia for the better part of three weeks and it has been a complete turnaround for the once struggles. Craig Ervine’s side did well to make it to the Super 12 stage for the first time in their history and then sealed an epic heist over Pakistan. Even in the series at home against a second-string India side, the Chevrons put up a fight and took the games close, displaying their immense potential.
Zimbabwe’s pace attack Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chatara will extract some help from a favourable MCG pitch and could make life difficult for India’s top order. Rohit Sharma and Co hence will have to be on their toes and not be complacent.
Reason 2: Sikandar Raza – Sikandar Raza has hit a golden run in 2022 and has almost single-handedly turned games around with his sheer skill. The Pakistan-born all-rounder is one of the leading scorers in T20I this year only behind Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammad Rizwan. Furthermore, the 36-year-old has added a bag of tricks to his armour, becoming a vital wicket-taking option for the Chevrons. As many teams have witnessed in recent months, Raza is the key to keeping Zimbabwe quite during both phases of the game.
Reason 3: Nothing to lose, everything to gain – While Zimbabwe are mathematically alive in the semi-final race, the Craig Ervine-led side have nothing to lose as they gear up for the MCG showdown. Playing in front of a packed 90,000 crowd after having already managed their best-ever finish in a T20 WC, Zimbabwe will come hard at India, seeking one final hurrah on Sunday. Should results and weather go their way, Zimbabwe could surprisingly find themselves in the semi-finals. A spirited performance and a potential upset could well lift their spirits should they make the final four or they can hold their heads high enough having delivered some miracles Down Under.
