IND vs ZIM: India have been blessed with some wonderful wicketkeepers over the last couple of years. The names include Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson among others, leading to huge competition in the wicketkeeping department. With Pant rested for the upcoming India vs Zimbabwe ODI series, Sanju and Ishan will fight for that slot. Former player Maninder Singh believes Sanju should get the nod in the playing XI. There is no doubt about the talent that exists in both the players. But the problem for them has been their inconsistent scores. Ishan has scored 48 runs in the last four T20 matches he has played. Samson’s return of scores have not been impressive either, amassing 137 runs in five limited overs matches.
IND vs ZIM: Ex-spinner Maninder Singh wants Sanju Samson to be picked ahead of Ishan Kishan, says ‘I would like to see Sanju getting opportunities’With both the players not in great form, it is a selection headache for KL Rahul and Rahul Dravid. They will not be able to pick players in regards to their current form, but on their skills and what they bring to the table, which is a tough job.
But Maninder believes Sanju deserves the nod and wants to see the Kerala batter feature in more matches before one calls him inconsistent. Sanju has been often criticised for his inconsistent batting and giving wickets quite easily.
Sanju Samson is an emotion ❤️
We will always support you no matter what🙌

“That is a difficult question (to play Sanju or Ishan). Both Sanju and Ishan are brilliant players. It is not going to be an easy choice for the coach and captain about their first choice. I am very impressed with Sanju Samson, he has a lot of time. When he plays in the backfoot, can make out that the batters has a lot of time in his hand.”
“I would want to see Samson getting opportunities, before you start thinking that he is not scoring consistently. My eyes will be on Sanju Samson.”

Can both of them feature in playing XI? Despite their respective form, it would not come as a surprise if they are both fielded in the Playing XI. They have proved in the past that they are capable of scoring big and changing the game on its head as well.
The management can be forced into playing the duo with the seniors not available for the series. If both get the nod, it is the middle order, where the duo can find a spot, not in the top order though.
