IND vs WI: Shikhar Dhawan ODI place – India stand-in-captain Shikhar Dhawan grabbed eyeballs as his majestic 97 in the first ODI against West Indies helped India beat the hosts by three runs. While most cricket experts appreciated the southpaw’s knock which came off 99 balls, cricketer-turn-expert Ajay Jadeja is unimpressed with the skipper’s slow batting. Not too long ago, India’s all-format skipper Rohit Sharma made things clear that the side will play an aggressive brand of cricket with the bat in hand. Dhawan’s slow innings in the 1st ODI has now made Jadeja question whether he is in Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma’s long-term plans in ODI cricket. Follow IND vs WI Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.

Shikhar Dhawan ODI Place: Why Ajay Jadeja feels Dhawan does not belong to Rohit’s aggressive brand of cricket?
Jadeja is baffled that Dhawan is named the captain and is being part of the ODI team. It is to be noted that the southpaw is out of favor in Test and T20 format. He was not part of the team during the T20 World Cup 2021. He was also made the captain during the ongoing ODI series against West Indies because eight of the regular member of the team are not part of the ODI series. With Dhawan being on and of the side and batting slow, Jadeja has questioned his selection in the team.
“If you get a weak bowling attack that what else can be better than that,” Jadeja said on Dhawan’s 97 before he continued saying, “Regarding Shikhar Dhawan, I am totally confused. What is he doing here? 6 months back he was dropped. India moved on to KL Rahul and some of the younger players. Then suddenly he was made the captain of the Sri Lanka tour last year. Then again he was left out, then was taken to England. So what are they thinking? And if he is part of India’s thought process then captain Rohit Sharma said that we will play an aggressive brand of cricket. He is definitely not part of it.”
