India Squad WI Series: While Rohit Sharma, who missed the South Africa tour owing to a hamstring injury, is expected to be back for the West Indies series.
But the development comes with a rider. Rohit will need to pass the fitness test at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
In recently posted social media photos, Rohit looked fitter than ever but with a gruelling few months coming up, BCCI wants him at his peak of fitness.
“Rohit is the most important player at present and we can’t rush things with his injury. He has recovered and we expect him to be back but we are yet to get his fitness test report. But we expect him to be back and lead the side,” the source added.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who had missed the tour of South Africa along with Rohit because of fitness issues, will also be back in the squad.

India Squad WI Series – BCCI Selection Committee Meeting: However, the team selection meeting on Wednesday was dominated by the review of South Africa series.
It was India’s third series loss in fourth series in SENA countries including two whitewashes. Although the selection committee isn’t too concerned considering India played an ODI series with the full team after eight months, the performance wasn’t great.
“It was one of the rare losses. We are not too concerned since the team did not play a lot of ODIs together. West Indies series will tell us where we stand. Based on that we will take a call. All the players know where they went wrong and so does Rahul. It was the first of preparations for ODI WC but the big factor was Rohit missing. We will see after the WI series,” the source said.
