On Thursday, the team began practice after all of them returned negative tests. Barring Shreyas Iyer, Dhawan, Ruturaj, Navdeep Saini and close contacts, all began training at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, Mayank Agarwal was unavailable for practice as he is serving three-day quarantine and will be available only from Sunday, the match day.

Ishan Kishan was already a part of the national team bio-bubble, since he was selected for the T20I squad. For this reason, the 23-year-old does not need to serve a mandatory quarantine period and will be available for selection from the first game itself. With Mayank Agarwal’s quarantine period ending on the day of the match itself, it seems highly likely that Kishan will be given a playing XI spot in the first ODI.
The lad from Bihar has represented the men in blue in a couple of ODIs – both against Sri Lanka last season. In his debut game at Colombo, he set the stage on fire by scoring 59 runs from only 42 deliveries. However, the pocked dynamo could not carry the momentum to the next game, where a Kasun Rajitha delivery got him bowled for just 1 run.
