India take indoor net session: Ahead of the first ODI on Friday, July 22, Team India were seen practicing indoor as rain played spoilsport. The players still look excited to have the indoor session as they took full advantage of the indoor facilitates developed in 2000.
Shikhar Dhawan and Rahul Dravid were involved in some serious conversation as well. The southpaw along with other Indian batters spent their fair share of time to feel the bat with the ball at the nets.

Shubman Gill on the occasion spoke about how excited he is feeling ahead of the ODI series, “We all thought that we’ll have an open net session, but it started raining. However, rather than doing nothing we had the indoor facilities for us,” Gill said.
“It feels very good when you get to face balls as a batsman and get prepared. I also did some specific things like facing underarm Balls.
“We’re Feeling excited and really burst up for the 3 ODIs,” Gill concluded.
Team India arrive in WestIndies
A special charter flight was arranged for Team India from Manchester to arrive in the Caribbean islands. Majority of the Indian players were involved in the England tour as India beat the ODI World Champion in both limited-overs format. The 16-member ODI squad was joined by Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill.
The trio were not part of the ODI series against England. They assembled in Port of Spain in Trinidad & Tobago on Tuesday. The rest of the squad including the coaching staff comprising head coach Rahul Dravid came from Manchester.

Team India ready for WestIndies challenge
- Shikhar Dhawan will lead the ODI squad in Rohit Sharma’s absence.
- Two other captains, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah have also been rested while Bhuvneshwar Kumar continues to be a miss in the ODI squad.
- Ravindra Jadeja has been appointed as vice-captain for the ODI side
- India have a proud record in Port of Spain and are unbeaten at the venue since 2007, having lost to Sri Lanka in the World Cup
- The hosts WestIndies recently lost a home ODI series against Bangladesh 0-3 and will be looking to bounce back.
