IND vs WI LIVE: Pragyan Ojha calls for chances to Ishan Kishan, believes ex-MI star could be groomed for 2023 World Cup
Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha believes Ishan Kishan needs to be groomed well and given opportunities to stake his claim in the side with the 203 World Cup just over a year away. Kishan scored 29 opening the batting in the 1st game at Ahmedabad but was dropped for the second game.
Ojha, speaking to Cricbuzz said, “See Ishan Kishan is the only one you can realistically groom for the World Cup. Apart from that, they will not want to do too many changes because the players playing right now are all young and newcomers. It’s not like they have played 40-50 matches or are coming off after playing a lot of cricket and need a break. It’s not like that so when it’s all going good I think if you need to give a chance to someone it could be Ishan Kishan.”
Kishan has played in three ODIs and five T20Is for India so far, having made his fifty-over international debut last July against Sri Lanka. He has scored half-centuries on both his ODI and T20I debuts for India, and the 23-year-old will hope for more chances to showcase his immense talent.

Kishan was replaced by KL Rahul, who slotted in in the middle order and scored a five 49. Rishabh Pant who opened the batting scored just 18 before being dismissed. With Shikhar Dhawan and Rurutraj Gaikwad also back, it is unlikely that the 23-year-old will feature in the final game of the series, but should get a chance in the upcoming 3 T20Is later this month.
