Obed McCoy 6/19 SPELL – Best Bowling Spells by WI: McCoy dismissed some of the key players of the Indian squad. His victims included the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Opting to bowl first, McCoy dismissed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in the very first ball of the game.
The exceptional bowling from the Caribbean pacer helped West Indies launch a deadly blow to India. This grants the hosts a wonderful opportunity to go on and win the game and level the series at 1-1. Post his spell McCoy said, “It’s a great feeling, I’ve been working really hard. To be able to perform against a top side like India is really special. I went in with a clear mind; you just go and execute your plans and use the wind to good effect.”

“I just had to clear my head and do what I had to do. (On the last wicket) When it passed the batter I heard something but I wasn’t sure. When everyone went up for the review I felt that it was a wicket. (Feel like he’s created history?) Not really – a lot of guys have done it before me. Guys like (DJ) Bravo. I think it’s a good wicket and we just have to be smart about how we go about it,” he concluded.

With his fiery spell against India, McCoy went on to become the first and only West Indies bowler to pick 6 wickets in a T20I game. This is also the best spell ever recorded by a Caribbean bowler in the shortest format of the game. Keemo Paul is second on the list after having picked 5 wickets by giving away 15 runs against Bangladesh in 2018.
