In a quirky interaction with Yuzvendra Chahal on Chahal TV after the IND vs WI 2nd ODI, Axar Patel poked fun at the legspinner. The 31-year-old heaped praise on the all-rounder’s innings with the left-hander hitting a six in the final over to seal the game for India.
Chahal said that he enjoyed watching Axar bat in Port of Spain. He hilariously joked that Patel’s knock reminded him of the “good old days of his batting. He said, “Watching you bat I remembered my good old days when I used to play like this.”
Axar quickly replied that he did not want to ‘trouble Chahal’ on finishing the job. The 28-year-old said, “That’s what I thought. If I lose my wicket then Chahal bhai will have to come in early and handle all the pressure. So I thought not to trouble Chahal Bhai and do the job myself.”

Axar Patel put on an exhibition of fine hitting as the all-rounder helped India bag a series win in Port of Spain. Staring at an almost impossible 100 to win from the last 10, Patel ensured that Ravindra Jadeja wasn’t missed with an unbeaten 64 off just 35 deliveries.
Axar however kept his cool and left nothing to chance, scoring his maiden ODI half-century on Sunday. He reached his fifty of just 27 balls, the fastest by an Indian in ODIs against the West Indies. Making his return after five years to the ODI set-up, Patel saw India over the line with a six.
