He spoke to head coach Phil Simmons and the players after the practice. It was a boost for a struggling West Indies ODI squad that has lost 12 out of 17 matches in the last 12 months. In fact, West Indies are on a 6-match losing streak in ODIs. It includes the 0-3 thrashing at the hands of Bangladesh and Pakistan. While the series against India is not part of the ODI Super League, it will still give West Indies a good idea on what to change in coming days.

As for coach Phil Simmons, he pointed out batting as the primary concern. With India missing Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, it could give them the chance to take on Indian bowling attack.

“The main thing is how we bat our 50 overs. We have to bat 50 overs and put our innings together and partnerships together. Somebody has to be looking to score a hundred and hold the team together. Batting-wise that is it,” Simmons said.
