While speaking to the press ahead of the first T20I, Pooran said, “WestIndies will be a different unit in T20’s, we can beat India in series.”
The WestIndies skipper looked equally delighted as emphasized the need of having a definite plan saying, “We need to build on partnership and it is also nice to have Shimron Hetmyer back in the team. He passed the fitness test and is always great to have a player of his quality back in the the team.”

The West Indies announced a 16-member squad for the T20I series ahead of the India and New Zealand tour. Shimron Hetmyer and Jason Holder are back in the team for the hosts.

The Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the India National Cricket Team and the three-match T20I series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. With eye on the New Zealand series as well, the West Indies recalled Shimron Hetmyer while Nicholas Pooran continues to lead the side.

Star left-handed batter Shimron Hetmyer has received a recall for the upcoming T20I games against India and New Zealand while pacer Sheldon Cottrell and all-rounder Fabian Allen are unavailable for selection. Sheldon is currently recovering from injury and Allen is unavailable for personal reasons.

West Indies recently lost to India in an ODI series. West Indies lost all three games, losing the 1st ODI by 3 runs, the 2nd ODI by 2 wickets, and the 3rd ODI by 119 runs.
