IND vs WI Highlights: A spirited performance from the West Indies meant that India fell short of the target in the first T20 encounter. Chasing 150 to win, India did not had a good start with Gill departing early. Debutant Tilak Varma impressed in his first outing as he scored 39 in just 22 balls.

Apart from him, none of the Indian batters managed to touch the 25-run mark as some persistent bowling from the home team helped them to get over the line. Jason Holder was adjudged player of the match for his impressive performance with the ball.

Earlier, West Indies managed to post 149 runs on the board. Debutant Mukesh Kumar was impressive in the death overs but went wicketless. Arshdeep and Chahal scalped two wickets each while Hardik and Kuldeep took one wicket each. For West Indies, skipper Rovman Powell was the highest scorer with 48 runs.

Jason Holder (Player of the Match): “We have played enough cricket for the last three years. So I’m trying to get some passage to take rest and get back fresh. I was happy that I stuck with the plans. The wicket was helping and I decided to make them hard to score runs.

The 18th over was certainly the turning point with the game getting close. It was a low total for us but we knew it will be hard in the second innings. It was a total team effort from us. I think with the quality they have, you would think they will chase it down. But the conditions were hard and we picked up early wickets to put them under pressure,” Holder added.
