Setback for Team India

As things stand, Ravindra Jadeja has an injury on his left knee and the medical team wants the player to opt out of the ODI series in an effort not to aggravate his injury. With one of the senior players missing, Rahul Dravid will now have to choose a deputy for Shikhar Dhawan.

Jadeja was made the deputy of Shikhar Dhawan in the upcoming 3-match ODI series. Reports further claim that Jadeja is likely to be available for the 5-match T20I series. The last of the two games will be played in Florida. With Jadeja set to miss the action, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur are the remaining senior ODI members of the team.

Problems Mount for KL Rahul

KL Rahul has been struggling with injuries and things only got worse for him after he tested positive for Covid-19. The Indian vice-captain was slated to appear for a fitness test on Sunday. But has tested positive and now, he has to spend  7 days in isolation. That also means, he will miss at least the first two T20s against West Indies.

Considering fitness issues,  Rahul will miss the T20I series for India as yet another player could be set for temporary deputy captaincy role,

Local Boy replaces Jadeja in Nets

Though Ravindra Jadeja is with the Indian team, he did not bowl, and neither did he take part in any training session. This forced Rahul Dravid to opt for an emergency nets bowler. Though the move from Dravid was quite surprising, this helped the Indian batters get used to a left-arm spinner. Amir Ali a young left-arm orthodox bowler was used by the Indian team during the practice session.
