Facing a quality pace bowling attack, India were rocked early after losing the openers and Deepak Hooda early in Perth. In the absence of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav once again took the responsibility to take his team to a respectable total.
The Mumbai-born stalwart stitched small partnerships with Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik to steer his side clear of danger. He eventually reached his half-century, top scoring for India. The Men in Blue eventually managed 158 on the board, which proved to be enough in the end.

Suryakumar Yadav has been India’s Mr Dependable since making his T20I debut and is currently amongst the best in the world in the shortest format. He recently became the first batter in the history of cricket to smash 50 sixes in the shortest format of the game in a single calendar year. On Monday, he hit three fours and three sixes enroute his fifty.
It should be noted that the practice game is his first action on Australian soil and the Indian middle-order enforcer looked at ease even as the others struggled. Surya has a career strike rate of 176.82 in T20Is, and is the quickest in history to reach 1000 T20I runs in terms of balls faced.
