IND vs SL: Suryakumar Yadav has been ignored for the selection in the last two ODIs. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid have prioritized Shreyas Iyer for the number 4 spot. However, the right-handed batter has failed to make an impression in the first two games. With Iyer failing to grab his chances, he might make way for the No 1 ranked T20I batter for the last game of the series. Follow India vs Sri Lanka ODI LIVE updates with InsideSport.

Coming to the third ODI, head coach Rahul Dravid along with the team management might want to replace Iyer with Suryakumar Yadav. The No 1 T20 ranked batter has been patiently waiting for his chances in the 50-over format. Yadav played his last 50-over match against NewZealand in November 2022.
He heads into the ODI series after having smashed his 3rd T20I century — 51-ball 112 not out in the 3rd T20I against Sri Lanka on Sunday. However, the 32-year-old has not managed to be consistent in the ODI format, scoring 4 single-digit scores in his last 5 innings in the 50-over format.
- Suryakumar will be itching to get an opportunity in the third ODI.
- The batter will try to improve his records in the 50-over format.
- Suryakumar has represented India in 16 ODI matches.
- In those games, he has amassed 384 runs at a decent average of 32.
- Just like in T20s, the right-handed batter does not let the bowlers settle. Yadav plays at a strike rate of 100.52.
- He also has stroked two fifties in the 50-over format with 64 being his highest score.

Iyer had got decent starts in both ODIs but he failed to grab his chances. In the 2nd ODI, Iyer was looking good for his 28 runs before getting trapped in front of the wickets by Rajitha. Just like the second ODI, Iyer also got a decent start in the first match of the series. The right-handed batter stroked 28 runs off just 24 deliveries. However, he threw away his wickets after trying to clear the ropes against Dhananjaya de Silva.
Meanwhile, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also hinted that there will be some changes in the third ODI encounter. “There are 3 ODIs coming up against New Zealand as well, so we need to keep the guys fresh. We’ve got a long season now and we need to keep everything in mind. If needed, we’ll make some changes,” said Rohit at the post-match presentation.
