Former India selector Dilip Vengsarkar has put his weight behind Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of India’s ODI series against Sri Lanka. The Chetan Sharma-led panel will decide Rohit Sharma and Kohli’s fate in the T20 format while selecting the squad for the New Zealand series. Voices of phasing out senior players, at least in the T20 format have been growing louder ever since India’s abject 10-wicket loss to England in the T20 World Cup. However, Vengsarkar feels Rohit Virat have plenty of cricket left in them.
“They’ve done great service to Indian cricket, they are extremely fit, and both have a lot of cricket left in them. I think when there’s an important event, they will be back in the T20 team,” Vengsarkar said at an event at the Mumbai Press Club on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
