IND vs SL: Three dream match-ups to watch out for between India vs Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super-4 clash – Check Out

Insidesport

Sri Lanka have chased two totals of 170 plus runs and are looking in ominous form. India lost the plot with the ball in hand against Pakistan  are aiming to bounce back. The likes of Virat Kohli, Wanindu Hasranga, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Hardik Pandya will like to put on strong performances.

Here at InsideSport, we take a look at three dream match-ups

Insidesport

1. Virat Kohli vs Wanindu Hasaranga

Kohli is India’s leading run-getter in Asia Cup amassing 154 runs in three games. He has scored two consecutive fifties and is looking in great nick. The right-hand batter has started to adopt a new aggressive approach especially attacking spinners. Now, he will be up against his RCB teammate Wanindu Hasaranga. Kohli averages more than 60 against leg spinners and will look to dominate the Lankan leggie from the outset.

Hasaranga though has a superb record against right-hand batters as he has taken 80 plus of the 120 wickets of right-hand players. The Lankan leggie has smart variations and Kohli will have to be watchful in the initial few overs. Both players have faced each other only once in a T20I game.

2. Bhanuka Rajapaksa vs Hardik Pandya

Sri Lanka’s hard-hitting batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa got back to form against Afghanistan. The southpaw scored 31 runs off just 14 balls and changed the complexion of the game. He is a very fearless cricketer and can tee off from ball one. Rajapaksa though has to be watchful against Hardik Pandya. India’s all-rounder started the tournament with three wickets against Pakistan.

All his wickets were by bowling short. Rajapaksa has a slight weakness against short-pitched bowling. Pandya can make the most use of that point and try to dismiss the southpaw.

3. Maheesh Theekshana vs Suryakumar Yadav

There is no secret that Suryakumar Yadav takes on challenges head-on. He can change the momentum of the match within a blink of an eye. Yadav scored a sublime 50 against Hong Kong and took them to the cleaners. He is a superb player of spin. Yadav will next be up against Lanka’s wily spinner Theeskshana. He has a lot of variations and manages to keep things tight.

Yadav is a great player of spin and strikes at a strike rate of 150 plus against spinners. The way he will play Theekshana and Hasaranga will be interesting to watch.
