IND vs SL Test Series: Team India stars were afforded a much-needed relaxation of rules after the BCCI spared the Test squad from undergoing hard quarantine. The BCCI have imposed a soft quarantine on players picked only for the two-match Test series, meaning that the players were able to undergo practice at the stadium having started assembling this weekend. The likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Rishabh Pant have already resumed training as the limited-overs squad tussles with the Lankans in the T20I series. IND vs SL Test Series: Good news for Team India, no hard quarantine before Sri Lanka Test series in Mohali, Pant & Ashwin arrive
Team India stars have already started assembling in Mohali, a week before the IND vs SL 1st Test at the venue. As per a Times of India report, have been exempted from being locked in a room for days. They have been given soft quarantine instead.
“The players have started assembling in Mohali. They are being tested every day. They have been given the opportunity to go to the stadium and train. Giving a four-day break for these cricketers doesn’t make sense if they had to endure another five days of hard quarantine. Frequent hard quarantines take a toll on the players,” a BCCI source told TOI.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Rishabh Pant, who were rested for the IND vs SL T20Is, have directly joined up with the team in Mohali. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, KS Bharat, Jayant Yadav, Saurabh Kumar and Umesh Yadav too will join the rest of the squad which will come down from Dharamsala. Former captain Virat Kohli is also expected to join soon after being rested from the series against Sri Lanka.
