The first test match between the two nations of the Indian subcontinent is bound to be special. As India chases for the top spot in the ICC test rankings, Sri Lanka currently occupies the top spot. Though India has been in good form off late, the last test series of Indian ended up in a humiliating loss at the hands of South Africa. In the India tour of South Africa, India won the first test but collapsed all of a sudden and lost the series 2-1.

India under the rein of new skipper Rohit Sharma will be eyeing for a clean sweep as they wish to continue their good form. India’s former skipper Virat Kohli who was rested for the T20matches against Sri Lanka is on the verge of creating some mighty records in his career.
Virat Kohli will be playing his 100th test match for India on 4th March as India take on Sri Lanka at Mohali. On his 100th test match, he has the possibility of crossing 8000 test cricket runs as he is just 38 runs short of the mark. Kohli currently has 27 test centuries under his belt and will be eyeing to add a couple more in this test series. 28 centuries will tie him with Australia’s Michael Clarke while 29 centuries will tie him with the great Sir Donald Bradman.
Currently, on 99 test catches, he also has the opportunity to take 100 test catches on his 100th test appearance. With 70 centuries he is currently third in the list of most centuries scored by a batter. His 71st century will tie in in the second spot with Ricky Ponting while 72nd will see him topple the Australian legend.
