Continuing his good form against the Men in Blue, Shanaka scored 56 off just 22 balls and helped his side to post an over-par score of 206. In 2022, he has stroked 202 runs in 5 matches at an average of 101, strike rate of 187.03 against the Men in Blue.
To note, he is also the leading run-getter for his team against India in India. He has compiled 407 runs in 21 games, striking at 137.95. Shanaka has also equaled the record of former SriLanka skipper Lasith Malinga who led the island nation in 84 games. So far, Shanaka has captained SriLanka in 84 matches. The senior all-rounder is set to go beyond Malinga’s number in the next game.

India will play SriLanka for the first time in Rajkot
India and Sri Lanka will clash for the first time at the SCA Stadium. But the hosts have played four T20I matches at the venue, where they have won three and lost. In the most recent outing in Rajkot, India beat South Africa in a T20I last year. While the hosts will look to seal the series when the action shifts to Rajkot, the visitors will also look to do the same as both teams will look to take some momentum into the three-match ODI series, which starts on January 10.
