Chahal needs just 4 wickets to surpass Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Chahal who has 87 wickets in 71 matches requires just four more wickets to surpass Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has grabbed 90 wickets in 87 games. With three games against SriLanka, Chahal is likely to overhaul Bhuvneshwar to take the top spot. Apart from Bhuvi and Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and the Indian skipper Hardik Pandya complete the top 5 list.
- Bhuvneshwar has 90 wickets in 87 games.
- Chahal has grabbed 87 wickets in 71 matches
- Ashwin comes at the third spot after scalping 72 wickets in just 65 encounters.
- The veteran spinner is closely followed by India’s express pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The speedster has taken 70 wickets in 60 matches.
- India’s skipper Hardik Pandya has also taken 62 wickets in 81 outings in T20Is.
Chahal made his T20I debut in 2016 against Zimbabwe. The wily leg-spinner has bamboozled several prominent batting line-ups in the international arena. Despite not being a regular member of the Indian playing XI, Chahal has done exceedingly well in the shortest format of the game. Chahal was a part of the Indian team in 2022 T20 World Cup. However, he did not get a game in the tournament with Ashwin being the lead spinner. To note, the 32-year-old played his last T20I game against NewZealand last year in November.
