Insidesport

The Lankans will play for pride in the 3rd ODI. India are aiming for clean sweep and will attempt to close in GAP between World No. 1 NewZealand in ICC Rankings.

1) ICC ODI RANKINGS

India can reduce gap with World No.1 NewZealand. Men in Blue can grab no 1 position in the forthcoming series vs Kiwis.

The 2-wicket win over Pakistan in the third ODI in Karachi puts New Zealand at the top of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League standings.

Insidesport

New Zealand’s win took them to the top of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League standings with 140 points, leapfrogging both Pakistan (130) and India (139) courtesy of their win.

Now India will look to close the gap between the both sides.

2) To test SuryaKumar Yadav in ODIs

Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t played in either of the last two ODIs. At the number four spot, Shreyas Iyer has been given priority by captain Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid.

Iyer, though, has not made an impression. Now there are excellent odds that the Mo 1 T20I batsman will take his place in the series finale.

Insidesport

SKY has been patiently waiting for his opportunities in the 50-over format. Yadav’s final 50-over match was against New Zealand in November 2022.

If chosen, he will enter the series in brilliant form. In the last match vs SL, he smashed 112 runs off 51 balls, marking his third T20I century.

However, the 32-year-old has had trouble remaining consistent in the 50-over format, failing to score in his last five innings.

3) To check if Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul better choice as Wicketkeeper Batter?

If given a chance in 3rd ODI, Ishan Kishan will definitely take wicketkeeping gloves from KL Rahul.

Ishan Kishan became the fastest and youngest double-centurion in ODI history in his last match for India against Bangladesh on December 10, 2022. Despite this, he was still excluded from the starting lineup, and Shubman Gill took his place vs SL.

Insidesport

Shubman, however, lived up to the hype and smashed 70 runs off 60 balls before scoring 21 runs off 12 balls in the second game.

It also comes as no surprise that the Gujarat Titans’ opener won’t be fired for bad play. Instead, he will have time to unwind as India will test Ishan Kishan.

Insidesport

With the NZ series coming up and most importantly Australia Test series, the team management will like to give Kishan the test run in the longer format.
