Speaking more about the catch, Chamika Karunaratne was facing Umran Malik as the batter punched the short of length delivery off the back foot. However, Umran’s extra pace and bounce meant that the batter fails to keep the ball down. Patel, stationed at backward point, dived to his left and pouched it with both hands. Axar was in total control of the catch as he made it look so easy.
Apart from the catch, Axar also bowled a tight five over spell in the match. The left-arm spinner gave away just 16 runs in his five overs and took one big wicket of Dhananjaya de Silva. Speaking about Axar numbers in ODIs, the 28-year-old has played 48 matches and scalped 56 wickets. With the bat, he has amassed 358 runs at a strike rate of 105.60.
Apart from Axar, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj were also impressive with the ball. Making his comeback to the Indian side, Kuldeep scalped three crucial wickets and completely broke the bone of SriLanka batting. With his three-wicket haul, Kuldeep has also completed 200 wickets across all three formats of the game. Siraj also bowled pretty well with the new ball. The right-arm seamer scalped three crucial wickets in his 5.4 over spell.
