Yesterday Rohit Sharma equalled Shoaib Malik’s tally of playing 124 T20Is and as soon as he stepped out for the toss today, Rohit became the first player in the world to feature in 125 T20 International matches.

Speaking about his record feat, Rohit during the toss said, “It’s a great feeling representing your country in 125 T20Is, feels good, look to continue playing for many more years.

Rohit is the only Indian cricketer to have played more than 100 T20I matches. He is followed by MS Dhoni, who has featured in 98 T20I games and Virat Kohli who has played 97 T20Is. In the overall list, after Rohit Sharma and Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez is third on the list with 119 T20Is. Eoin Morgan and Mahmudullah are in the fourth and fifth place respectively with 115 and 113 T20I appearabces respectively.

Here are the top five T20I capped players: 

Rohit Sharma – 125*

Shoaib Malik – 124

Mohammad Hafeez – 119

Eoin Morgan – 115

Mahmudullah – 113

Coming to the third and final T20I, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first against India on Sunday. India have already sealed the series against Sri Lanka, which means the final T20I is a dead rubber. The hosts had defeated Sri Lanka by 62 runs in the first T20I and by 7 wickets in the second T20I.
