After surpassing Kapil Dev’s 434 Test wickets, Ashwin broke Dale Steyn’s record of 439 Test wickets with the scalp of Dhananjaya de Silva. In the first Test match in Mohali, Ashwin broke Kapil Dev’s record of 434 Test wickets. He took six wickets in the match and complimented Ravindra Jadeja well. In the ongoing Bengaluru Test, Ashwin has already picked four wickets across innings and is looking good to bag another fifer.

Meanwhile, legendary cricketer Kapil Dev sent a special handwritten note and bouquet to Ashwin’s home on breaking his 434 Test wickets record. Ashwin was overwhelmed by this gesture and shared a sweet message.

“It was very sweet of Kapil paji to have sent a bouquet and a small hand-written note to my home, congratulating me for crossing him. People tend to forget that legends like Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar are the reason why I’m sitting here today. We need to be deeply indebted to them,” Ravichandran Ashwin said after receiving the great gesture from Kapil Dev.
