IND vs SL Live: Playing in his ‘Second Home’ Bengaluru, Virat Kohli failed to make it a Happy Homecoming as he flopped yet again with the bat. The 33-year old’s poor form with the bat continued as he was dismissed for 23 in the second Test match against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Kohli, who is chasing his 71st Test ton for over two years now, received a rousing reception from the Bengaluru crowd when he walked out to bat. He also looked good, scoring 23 off 48 balls that included two boundaries. However just before Tea,he got out to a ball off Dhananjaya de Silva that kept low, turned and hit his pad right in front of the stumps.

Sri Lankan players erupted in a huge appeal and the umpire raised his finger. Kohli was left stunned with the delivery as it unusually kept low. However he knew straightaway that even a review couldn’t save him and walked back to the pavilion much to the disappointment of the Bengaluru crowd.

With yet another flop show, Kohli’s average has now dropped to 50.18 and he is on the verge of losing his average to below 50 for the first time in six years in any of the three formats. Kohli is currently the only batsman to have an average of 50+ across all three formats.

Kohli touched 50 average in his 52nd Test against England at the Wankhede Stadium when he slammed 235 in the first innings. He touched a career-best average of 55.10 when he slammed 254 against South Africa in Pune in 2019. But his stats have slowly come down. On his 100th Test in Mohali, he managed 45.
