IND vs SL 3rd ODI: Sri Lanka cricketers had a moment of agony after they mistook DRS Rules and started their celebrations prematurely in the game against India. The hosts took a review after Suryakumar Yadav was struck on his pads attempting to sweep, and was given out by umpire Kumar Dharmasena. However, a review saved the batsman, cutting the Lankan celebrations down before rain stopped play. There seemed to be confusion as Hardik Pandya was ready to come on but had to go back.
In a moment of confusion, Sri Lanka players started celebrating despite the DRS review showing the impact to be outside the line. Suryakumar Yadav went for the sweep still and got struck on the front pad with Kumar Dharmasena immediately raising his finger. Yadav instantly reviewed the decision, and it ultimately proved to be the right call as the impact was outside the line of off stump.

The Sri Lanka players meanwhile did not know the DRS rules well enough as there was a loud cheer among the players when ball-tracking showed up and felt that the on-field call will stay. The 3rd umpire also got confused by the antics, and Kumar Dharmasenakept his calm and reversed the decision with Suryakumar Yadav deemed not out. The Mumbai Indians star added insult to injury, sweeping Praveen Jayawickrama to the fence two balls later. Here’s ho Twitter reacted to the Sri Lankan players’ celebrations:

Prithvi Shaw and Sanju Samson booth played some eye-catching shots and scored a quick tempo, but eventually fell short of their own half-centuries.
