India are on the lookout for finishers and Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel gave the perfect audition at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. SriLanka had pegged India back with regular wickets as the Men in Blue stared at a below-par total in the 1st T20. However, Hooda and Axar launched a stunning counterattack to take India to a respectable score.

Hooda took a liking to the spinner hitting three sixes as Axar got himself in after the wicket of Hardik Pandya. Once set, the left-hander pierced the gaps, picking up boundaries easily. In the last two overs, Axar and Hooda both hit multiple boundaries to take the Men in Blue to 162.
The duo managed 61 runs in the last five overs to keep their side in the hunt. Hooda remained unbeaten on 41 off just 23 balls, while Patel struck 31 off just 20 balls.
With Dinesh Karthik not in India’s plans, there is a lookout for a new finisher for the T20 team. Hooda and Axar fit the bill perfectly given their ability to chip in with the ball in hand. Given how the duo finished the task at hand on Tuesday, India will give them a slightly longer rope in the games to come.
