After winning the toss at Supersport Park, Centurion, the Indian captain opted to bat first. He reckoned that batting first and posting a total on the board in foreign conditions has been his team’s strength. He was proved right by the opening duo of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul.

The Rahul-Mayank duo stitched a century partnership and kept South Africa devoid of wickets in the first session. However, Mayank fell prey to Lungi Ngidi after scoring a brilliant half-century. Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara’s hot and cold form continues as he departed for a golden duck.

Virat Kohli walked out to bat for India at No.4 post Pujara’s dismissal and looked in good touch. He formed a half-century stand with KL Rahul but went down chasing a delivery way outside the off-stump.

On the other hand, KL Rahul has looked in phenomenal touch throughout his innings. He also scored his 7th Test century, first in South Africa. The Karnataka batter has been riding on his form in Test cricket recently.
