India Cricket Team batter Shubman Gill faced some stern criticism from former Indian Cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar. Shubman Gill yet again failed to score big runs in the IND vs SA 1st Test. The baby GOAT is finding it difficult to adjust to his new role and was dismissed after scoring just 2 runs in the first innings.
While the top 3 batters failed under a strong Proteas bowling attack. Gill has to score runs in a flurry in Test cricket as there is an immense competition among the team.
“He (Shubman Gill) has to keep getting runs with the immense competition,” said Sanjay Manjrekar after the match was brought to an early end in Day 1.
Shubman Gill has struggled to bat at the Number 3 spot. He has managed a highest score of 47 runs so far. Ever since Yashasvi Jaiswal made his debut for India in Tests, Gill has batted at number 3. But this change in position has done no good for the young batter.
But with a high demands to perform and with immense competition in the team, Gill will have to score big runs to cement his spot in the team. With Jaiswal keen to make his mark in the team, there is little chance for Gill move back to the openers spot and pair up with Rohit Sharma.
In the first innings, Shubman Gill had to walk into the crease early on after Rohit Sharma departed. Gill managed to score 2 runs from 12 balls before being scalped by Nandre Burger.
