IND vs SA Test: Not much to offer for spinners claims Centurion pitch curator, Pacers to dominate rain affected Test match

The India vs South Africa 1st Test is set to be troubled by rain. Such is the forecast that there are reports that the entirety of Day 1 can be wasted. Brain Bloy who is the pitch curator at the Centurion has claimed that the spinners are unlikely to get any sort of assist from the pitch.

As for the IND vs SA 1st Test Weather Forecast, rain is set to play spoilsport and there might be no play on 26th December. Bloy went on to claim that the sun would not be out and there is also a good chance that Day 2 also might get affected. While the pitch can provide little bit of turn and bounce, but spinner’s aren’t expected to gain much from the pitch.

“You are seeing a forecast on Day 1 and Day 2. It doesn’t look very good. The sun is out for four days and, so there will be some purchases for spinners, offer turn and bounce; with the weather forecast, I don’t know how accurate it will be as there will be a lot of rain,” curator Brain Bloy said to PTI on Saturday.

With a lot of rain in the weather forecast, India will be keen to go with a strong bowling lineup. The cold and chilly climate accompanied by moisture and rain in the air will provide a big benefit to swing and seam bowlers. It is however the spinners who won’t be able to gain a lot from the same.

“So if it’s a Day-3, 10 am start, it doesn’t give us much time because it’s in the morning and you start playing at ten and really three hours of cool weather and early morning will be tricky. If it’s covered for two days, I would presume bowlers would benefit from it.” Bloy concluded.

It is well understood that India will be approach the game with a solitary spinner. Ravindra Jadeja is set to get the nod ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin. The Men in Blue will approach the game with 4 pacers with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj spearheading the attack. Shardul Thakur will be the fourth pacer while there will be a selection headache between Mukesh Kumar and Prasidh Krishna.
