IND vs SA T20 Series: India vs South Africa Live Updates – 161 runs in 7 games with a strike rate of 142.48 is decent number for a 19-year-old in his debut IPL season. But for South Africa, it wasn’t enough for Baby AB Dewald Brevis to get into the senior national team for the India series.

“Brevis is an exciting prospect and had a good season in IPL. But you have to understand that he has not played any four-day game or First Class matches in South Africa. He needs to play a few First Class games,” Temba Bavuma said.

Temba Bavuma said South Africa won’t rush Brevis in international cricket despite his impressive run in the U-19 World Cup and IPL 2022. Instead, he will have to go through the grind of First Class cricket in South Africa’s domestic season.

  • Dewald Brevis played 7 games for Mumbai Indians and scored 161 runs.
  • He maintained a strike rate of 142.48, one of the best for Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians and India captain Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Dewald Brevis

Dewald Brevis was in talks to make his senior international debut after a brilliant run in the U-19 World Cup and IPL 2022. However, Proteas did not include him in the squad for India tour. Instead, it was Tristen Stubbs who handed a maiden senior call-up.

“Without First Class experience, it will be unfair to throw him into international cricket. We have to tread carefully and ease him into international cricket,” Temba Bavuma said.
